Harvatek succeeds in invalidating one China patent of Cree

Harvatek Successfully Invalidates Cree China Patent, Demonstrating Transnational Patent Capability

Harvatek Corp. (“Harvatek”) announces that the Chinese patent, Patent No. 200780015100.X, titled “Apparatus and Method for Mounting Electronic Components,” owned by Huizhou Cree Semiconductor Lighting Co., Ltd., has been declared invalid. The invalidation request was filed through Beijing Leader Patent & Trademark Firm on December 22, 2014, and the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China officially declared all claims of the patent invalid on July 26, 2015.

In September of last year, Harvatek was accused of infringing six US patents held by Cree related to LED packaging. Harvatek has asserted in US court that all six patents are invalid. One of these patents, US8,362,605, corresponds to the Chinese patent 200780015100.X. Harvatek is confident that the invalidation in China indicates that the US counterpart patent is likewise invalid.

Harvatek respects the intellectual property rights of others and has never intended to infringe upon any patents. Harvatek has refused to concede to the patent dispute initiated by Cree, safeguarding the interests of its shareholders and customers. The successful invalidation in China demonstrates Harvatek’s strong capability to handle transnational patent disputes.
