Harvatek Obtains Patent License from Toyoda Gosei for Silicate Phosphor White LED Technology

To meet customer demands, Harvatek Corporation has actively pursued and successfully obtained a patent license for silicate phosphor-based white LED technology from Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd., further strengthening its competitiveness in the white LED technology sector.
Overview of the B.O.S.E. Joint Patent
Toyoda Gosei, together with Tridonic Jennersdorf GmbH (Austria), Leuchtstoffwerk Breitungen GmbH (Germany), and Litec GbR (Germany) (collectively referred to as the “B.O.S.E. Joint Group”), holds fundamental patents covering white LEDs that combine blue LEDs with yellow silicate phosphors. White LED products manufactured using silicate phosphors and blue LEDs feature high precision and high brightness, and are widely used in mobile phones, notebook computers, GPS devices, and other small-sized displays. These products currently account for a significant share of the LED market.
For licensing convenience, the B.O.S.E. Joint Group has categorized its patent portfolio into two types:
- Product Patent License: White LEDs utilizing silicate phosphors
- Material Patent License: Manufacturing process of silicate phosphors
Scope of Harvatek’s License
Under this agreement, Toyoda Gosei (TG) has granted Harvatek, a leading Taiwanese LED manufacturer, the product patent license of the B.O.S.E. Joint Group, authorizing Harvatek to implement the patented white LED technologies covered by this patent portfolio.
This patent licensing agreement will enable Harvatek to expand its offerings and provide customers with white LED products based on the silicate phosphor technology of TG and the B.O.S.E. Joint Group. Harvatek has also officially become a member of the B.O.S.E. Joint patent pool. Harvatek Corporation and Toyoda Gosei jointly announced the signing of this agreement and look forward to the benefits and opportunities arising from future collaboration.
